EBF YouTube Chat

Chris McCann

EBF's YouTube chat for the New Open Forum (NOF) and other programs is not provided for people to post their own ideas, their own understandings, their own positions on doctrines – that counter the doctrines mentioned in the program they are listening to.

Why not? Because the program (especially the New Open Forum) has a number clearly seen on the screen for people to call in if they disagree. Allowing listeners to express their disagreements is actually one of the main reasons the New Open Forum program exists.

Posting in the chat disagreements/criticisms/one's own understanding of a doctrine is a way to avoid true discussion on the issue that the NOF program is designed to address. This is so because the host of the program cannot see the chat during the program itself. And so the host cannot respond to the things said. Even afterward, once the chat is posted, the comments in the chat cannot be responded to.

Please be aware that EBF's chat rules which the admins try to uphold are that posting one's own teaching on an issue in the chat is not allowed. And to criticize the teaching heard during the program in the chat is not allowed. It is fine if you disagree with what's being said. It’s fine to post I disagree with that. But if the person in the chat wants to go further than that – then call in to the program and say it there.

God tells us in the Bible to not be a respecter of persons. EBF admins try to follow this. Whether a stranger, or a long time listener, both should be held to the same standard.

Although we do not want to do it, we are able to remove people from the chat for a 1 day. As well as 30 days. Or indefinitely if someone continues to post against the chat rules.

If you don't like something, you are welcome to call in. And if you're right on your point, calling in would even help your own cause to bring correction all the more as most listeners are not in the chat and cannot see what you are posting in the chat.

May the Lord's perfect will be done.
