Since the Times Were Changed by Gregorian Calendar – Who Knows for Certain?

God's calendar is built into creation:

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

The movements of the celestial bodies are what establish and keep time in a regular way since the creation. Every solar year is 365.2422 days. Every lunar month is 29.530 days.

Practically all calendars (including the Gregorian) attempt to align with the celestial clock of God.

The Gregorian calendar came into existence in 1582 AD in order to correct the drifting error of the Julian calendar.

The Julian calendar calculated each year as 365.25 days. They did this by adding a leap year every 4 years.

However, the actual length of a solar year was slightly less than that (365.2422) and so over long periods of time (centuries), the Julian calendar was off course by about 10 or 11 days. That's when correction was made in the time of Pope Gregory.

What were they using to correct to? They were using the astronomical calendar which consists of the sun, moon, and stars. Ancient civilizations understood by careful observance of the heavenly bodies that there was indeed a built in clock regulating times and seasons (just like Genesis 1:14 tells us).

Therefore, telling correct time, in regards to years and centuries, can indeed be accurately understood and forecast. Especially once the Biblical calendar of history is understood. For then we are given absolute dates that come right from the Bible and right from the God of the Bible.
