The Bible is the Greatest of Puzzles

Chris McCann

Our job as readers and servants of God is (by God's grace) to put the right pieces in the right spots. Not to place a piece that seemingly fits but the one corner kind of turns up and is getting bent – showing that it really doesn't fit. No. As we do our comparison, other Scriptures reveal that a doctrinal idea has no consistent Biblical support. In other words, it does not harmonize with the whole of the Bible. It does not fit in the puzzle that is the Word of God. Typically, the church and its leaders continue to adhere to the doctrine because that's what they've been taught for many years (centuries in some cases) and that's what they learned in seminary. Not good enough. We are called upon to obey God and not man. Being outside the church, as I and some others are, is extremely freeing. We have no embedded doctrinal restraints laid upon us that we must believe as the church we belong to insists believe.

To say it another way, the Bible confirms truth to us by the Bible. Always look for the Bible verses being offered or the lack of Bible verses being offered. That will tell where the truth lies.
