Written to an Atheist
I was raised a secular child of your world. Raised without any Bible whatsoever. Never read it growing up. Hardly heard anything about it except what I saw on television. So I know the thing you've foolishly gone after (the world). I know it very well. I know the world's total emptiness when it comes to anything of true meaning and value. I know the mental anguish of being unsatisfied and unfulfilled by the world's shining things.
And here you are, atheist man, to save the day. To lead a child from God to-------------to what? To nonsensical tales of big bangs and ridiculous theories of origins. Little child, we know it all. We will help you. The truth is that you have come from nothing. And will go to nothing. And that your life means nothing. That's what your atheistic beliefs offer children and everyone else. They offer nothing.
Atheists are so caught up in the process of trying to convince others that there is no God that they forget that their gospel of unbelief is void of anything of real purpose and meaning.
Look around at your world. It is sick and empty. It is a vain world. It is a world broken and dashed to pieces. Vanity of vanities all is vanity. And its people have no true wisdom of any kind. They do not have any idea what they are doing. The people of this sin-cursed world are walking around in ignorance and in the darkness of their mind. You cannot save anyone from anything. For you yourself are in need of saving.
I think that's what is really bothering you. You speak of there being no God. But deep down within, you always liked the idea that the gospel was available. Right over there. And if the atheist thing didn't work out. Well, there's that reliable old gospel waiting for the prodigal son to return. Only, you did not count on the God of the Bible ending His salvation program and taking away the gospel opportunity from the world – and from you.
Deep down you want the gospel available for you – if only as a sort of psychological safety net. Well, God is not responsible for maintaining the psychological well-being of rebels that shake their fist at Him on a daily basis. God's gospel was designed to accomplish a specific purpose: to save His people from their sins. It has done that. So, there is no further purpose for evangelization. It is finished.
