Foolish, Weak, and Base (not exactly flattering to me and others)
Response to a man pointing out how EBF teaches that many religions and all present day churches do not have truth – but I (Chris McCann) and others who follow the Bible's teachings at this time – do. His point being that we must be extremely prideful to believe we have the truth while hundreds of millions (even billions) of others do not.
Here's my response:
"I'm sorry to tell you that yes, a nobody like myself has been blessed by God with understanding of the truth of the Bible. And a few others (many called but few chosen) out of the world's whole have also been blessed with a right understanding of the Bible. While many others out there in all the world's religions (including the apostate corporate church) have not. Jesus told us this is the way it would be:
Matthew 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Do I feel proud about this? Above others? No way. As a matter of fact the Bible tells us that God often uses the lowly (lowest of the low and chiefest of sinners) in order to confound the proud and arrogant people of the world:
1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Not exactly flattering to me and others who (by God's grace) know the truth, is it? Basically, God is saying that we are not of those who would be considered wise, nor are we mighty, or noble; but, what we are — are the foolish of the world and the weak of the world and even the base of the world. God has done this in order that "no flesh should glory in His presence."
I fully admit to being of these groups and categories (foolish, weak, base), and fully recognize that it is beyond amazing that such a one as I understand any truth whatsoever let alone the amazing abundance of Biblical information that the Lord has graciously granted me to understand.
