God Takes – That Which He Thinks He Has
Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
The Greek word translated as "seemeth to have" (dokeo) is Strong's #1380. It's also translated as "think" in this verse:
John 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
So we see that God takes away truth from those who "think" they have it, but in reality never did.
The Greek word dokeo (#1380) is also found in this verse:
Galatians 6:3 For if a man think (#1380) himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
Again, a man thinks himself to be something (a Christian), when in fact, he is nothing (not a Christian) – and he has done this by deceiving himself (Jeremiah 17:9).
