Marriage After Divorce is an Act of Adultery

Mark 10:11Matthew 19:5

Jesus said that if a man put away His wife and marry another-or a woman put away her husband and marry another – they commit adultery.

Mark 10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

If they were divorced – how then can Christ say the act of marrying another is an act of adultery?

The only way the new marriage can be adulterous is if they are still married to their former spouse. This must be the case or Jesus would not say that the one entering a new marriage is committing adultery.

Marriage is until death. Men and their governments and their churches may pass laws allowing divorce and remarriage – but God's law does not. And God's law is always the supreme law in all matters that it addresses.

Matthew 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
