No Use Preaching To The Dead

(Response to an adherent of the free will gospel)

The dead have no will to exercise because they are dead.

Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

All mankind are dead in their souls because of sin. Salvation of the soul, or being born again is a resurrection (the first resurrection) of the soul. The raising of Lazarus from the dead illustrates that man is acted upon when it comes to the resurrection of his soul or the resurrection of his body (which is the second resurrection).

Do you think the dead have free will to choose God? Then go to your local cemetery and start preaching to the tombs there. Preach passionately and for as long as you want. Keep preaching and preaching until they hear you, after all they are not robots. I know you won't go to your local cemetery and do this. And I know why you will not do this. Because you understand like everyone else understands that there is no use preaching to the dead because the dead have no life in them. And without life they cannot hear you. They cannot see you. They cannot respond to you. After all, they are dead.

This is the condition of the sinner's soul. It is dead. But foolishly, the pastors you regard, preach to the dead and expect a reaction. And sure enough they do get a reaction. An emotional reaction at times. A physical reaction at times. But the reaction they are getting from the sinner is from that part of him that is alive. His natural body. The soul is dead. The soul is not responding when a man accepts Christ. The soul cannot because it is dead:

Ezekiel 18:4 ... the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

However, the pastor embraces the man for saying a few magic words, and for doing the work of faith (which work will not save him) and for making his preaching a success. Yes the pastor is happy. But God is not. The promise of life to the wicked man still in his sins displeases God greatly:

Ezekiel 13:22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:

This gospel is not the true gospel of the Bible. It is a wicked thing that has done nothing but solidified the position of untold millions of "Christians" who have been deceived into believing it. Once they accepted Christ they thought they had found their spiritual safety.

All they had to do was tuck away the card with the date on it, and when ever the true gospel came their way, pull it out and say, 'go give that gospel to another friend, I became saved on this date years ago.'

How sorrowful.
