Question regarding the meaning of the word “belial”?

Deuteronomy 15:9Psalm 18:4Psalm 41:8Psalm 101:3Proverbs 6:12

The word “belial” is used in several places. This word is Strong's #1100 in the Hebrew concordance. It is a compound word derived from beli #1097 (translated once as "corruption" and several other ways as well) and #3276 ya'al (translated as “profit” and other ways) –

combined the two words which make up the word “belial” give the idea of that which is without profit.

The word “belial” (#1100) is also translated as "evil, naughty, ungodly, and wicked". Here are some verses where this word is found:

Deuteronomy 15:9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked (#1100) heart, ...

Psalm 18:4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly (#1100) men made me afraid.

Psalm 41:8 An evil (#1100) disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him:

Psalm 101:3 I will set no wicked (#1100) thing before mine eyes:

Proverbs 6:12 A naughty (#1100) person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

This list of words is about as negative and bad as language can get. To be a child of belial means to be a child of wickedness, or a child of evil, or a child of the ungodly. Ultimately, since all unsaved people possess desperately wicked hearts, it can be said that all unsaved people are children of belial.
