Satan is Bound for a Thousand Years!

Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

But it’s not a literal thousand years. According to the Bible Satan was bound in 33 AD. And loosed in 1988. The total length of time was 1955 years.

How can this be? The answer is because the number 1000 (or any multiple of ten) found in the Bible is used to represent the completeness of whatever is in view (ten virgins, 100 sheep, 1000 hills, 10000 saints). In this case it represents the completeness of Satan's binding-which we can show is the parallel length of time as the Church Age.

This reveals to us once again that the deeper spiritual meaning of the word is more important the apparent literal surface meaning.
