Sunday is the New Testament Sabbath Day!

Chris McCann
Matthew 28:1

The last 7th day Sabbath took place in 33 AD as Jesus was in the tomb after dying on the cross. Upon Jesus' resurrection early Sunday (1st day of the week) morning, God changed the Sabbath day from the 7th day to the 1st day for the N.T. era.

Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

The words "sabbath" and "week" in the above verse are both the Greek word sabbaton. Sabbaton is a plural word and should be translated as "sabbaths". Once we correct this the verse reads this way:

Matthew 28:1 In the end of the SABBATHS, as it began to dawn toward the first of the SABBATHS.

This means that Jesus' death on the cross fulfilled the O.T. series of 7th day sabbaths. Never again was man to worship God on the 7th day. For the N.T. era the day for worship became Sunday, the first day of the week. Sunday is the Sabbath day. Any who are worshipping God on any other day are not truly worshipping God. For God must be worshipped in Spirit and in Truth.
