The Most Righteous Judge (God) Cannot Sentence the Sinner to Unlimited Punishment

Deuteronomy 25:12 Corinthians 11:24Deuteronomy 25Psalm 138:2

The God of the Bible is a God that adheres to His own laws. He cannot give a law and not follow it Himself.

God gave this law in the book of Deuteronomy concerning judgment:

Deuteronomy 25:1 If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

2 And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.

3 Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

Notice the law above is speaking about stripes (the New Testament speaks of stripes in association with the end of the world and the punishment upon the sinner). And the law says that a judge may not sentence a man to more than forty stripes.

The Jews were very much aware of this law, as the apostle Paul testifies that five times he received forty stripes save one (2 Corinthians 11:24). They were so careful to obey the law of Deuteronomy regarding stripes that they gave one less than the maximum limit to safeguard against exceeding the allowed number.

Now again, God observes His own laws.

The erroneous doctrine devised by the churches and their theologians declares that the God of the Bible (the Most Righteous Judge) will judge a sinner and cast him into a place of eternal torment. And there, we're told, the Righteous Judge will afflict him with stripes forever and ever. Not just forty one stripes, and not just 401, or 4,001, etc., etc. But an endless punishment of countless stripes.

This man-made doctrine of eternal suffering goes against the law found in Deuteronomy 25 that indicates that there must be a limit placed upon punishment. Punishment must not exceed a certain point.

Obviously, the idea of eternal punishment contradicts God's law.

The law God Himself wrote and is obligated to keep.

Psalm 138:2 ... for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
