The word “generation”

Just checked out the word generation in Matthew 1:1.
Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
The word “genealogy” seems to come from the Greek word for "generations". “Generations” is Strong's #1078 (genesis). It comes from Strong's #1074 (genea) which is also translated as "generation". A genealogy is the listing of one's generations.
“Lineage” basically means the same thing.
