We Find an Amazing Emphasis on the #84 in Numbers 31

A breakdown of the #84 as God writes about it in Numbers chapter 31.

12,000 Israelites went to war with the Midianites (Numbers 31:1-6). They won the battle and returned with the spoil (Numbers 31:7-12).

God told them to divide the prey (all the spoil) into two parts. One part for the men who went to the battle. And the second part for the congregation of Israel that did not go to the battle (Numbers 31:25-27). He also told them to take from the half given to the army and give of it a tribute to the Lord 1 soul of 500. Later, the Lord would also instruct that out of the other half of the prey given to the congregation of Israel 1 portion out of 50 was to be given to the Levites.

Once we have those instructions clear. Then we find the following:

The sum total of the prey (animals and people) was 840,000 (Numbers 31:32-35).

The 840,000 was to be divided: half given to the soldiers who went to war:

420,000 out of which the LORD's portion was 1 out of 500 = 840 (Numbers 31:36-40)

Next, the other half of 840,000 given to the congregation of Israel:

420,000 out of which went the Levites portion of 1 out 50 = 8400 (Numbers 31:42-47)

To summarize this. We find the prey totals 840,000. The LORD's portion was 840. The Levites portion was 8,400.

And even the 420,000 can be broken down by the number 84.

420,000 / 8,400 = 50

420,000 / 840 = 500

420,000 / 84 = 5,000

The #5 and multiples of #10 point to the completeness (10) of atonement (5). And atonement is payment for sin.

The emphasis in Numbers 31 on the number 84 and its multiples does especially relate to the great tribulation period.

As you know the great tribulation's exact 23 years worked out to 8,400 days.

Other time spans are also used in the Bible to relate to the entirety or portions of the great tribulation period. Such as the 7 year famine in the days of Joseph. The 70 year tribulation of Judah upon the death of good king Josiah. The 3 1/2 days the two witnesses lie down in the street.

23 years = 8,400 days

70 years = 840 months

7 years = 84 months

3 1/2 days = 84 hours

Mr. Camping's Critique of Jewish Postponement Rules in 1994?

Quote from Mr. Camping's book "1994?":

"When we attempt to use the Jewish calendar to exactly determine feast days such as the Passover and Pentecost for years other than 33 AD, we are unable to know whether we have been given an accurate date or a date that is as much as TWO DAYS OFF. This is because the rabbis decided that the first day of Tishri, which is the feast of trumpets in the Bible or Rosh Hashanah in the Jewish calendar, MUST BE CHANGED UP TO TWO DAYS IF IT FALLS ON CERTAIN DAYS." (page 411-1994?)

Mr. Camping is referring to the Jewish "postponement rules" that the online Hebrew calendar websites operate by. He continued to cite the Jewish rules for when to change the calendar-the rules almost took up a full page. Then, he said the Jewish calendar couldn't be used unless one had a very great understanding of all the various rules. I would add, even if someone did have a very great understanding of all the rules there's evidence the dates arrived at are incorrect at times. His point was to show that precise and trustworthy dates cannot be arrived at by using the Jewish calendars.

Mr. Camping then proceeded to say that according to astronomical calculation we can discover precisely how accurate the Jewish calendar is.
