Every Tongue is Currently Confessing Jesus Christ is Lord
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, ..
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Also,
Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
We have learned that to bow down in the Bible is related to death. And since the unsaved of the world were spiritually slain once God shut the door of heaven on May 21, 2011, we understand how that prophecy is being fulfilled at this time.
But what about the idea of "every tongue" confessing Jesus is Lord? That's certainly not happening in any kind of literal way around the world. Many people of the world are more hardened in their opposition to Christ today than they have ever been.
No, this is not happening literally. And since we realize that God is fulfilling the prophesy of every knee bowing in a spiritual way, we also realize that so too must there be a spiritual fulfillment to the statement "every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord". What is the spiritual meaning of this, though? How can we understand these things that God is telling us will be in view in the Day of Judgment?
We find our answer by once again searching the Scriptures to see how God has used the word "confess". This word is used 11 times in the New Testament. We are helped in our understanding by the use of this word in two parallel Scriptures:
Matthew 3:6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
And,
Mark 1:5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
The people of Judah were baptized of John in the river Jordan and God says that this action of baptism was akin to "confessing their sins". Why is baptism tied to confession of sins? Because the idea of going into the water to be baptized pictures experiencing the wrath of God. The river Jordan is a type and figure of God's wrath. The spiritual picture that baptism draws is that the sinner goes into the water (the wrath of God) and his sins are dealt with (confessed) in the sense that Christ paid for their sins (this is what is illustrated by being baptized into Christ - see Romans 6:2,3) or the sinner himself pays for his own sin. Either way, sins are confessed in the sense that atonement has been made for them.
On May 21, 2011, the wrath of God began to fall upon all inhabitants of the earth. Spiritually, the whole world thereby became as the river Jordan. And all are being spiritually baptized as all the sins of all people are being washed away from them by the fires of God's wrath. This process will not be complete until the very last day of earth's existence. On that last day mankind will be utterly destroyed and annihilated out of existence. This second death will complete the sinner's payment for his own sins and complete his baptism as all sin will be washed away from him through his own personal atonement made by his death in payment for them. Tragically, however, the sinner once accomplishing this atonement/baptism for his own sins will remain dead forever – for unlike Christ, he has no power to overcome death and return to life.
Again, this baptism (confession of sins) is currently in progress. Therefore, at this time every tongue is confessing Jesus Christ is Lord.
