No Fairy Tale Ending for this World – “Happily Ever After” is for the People of the Good & Righteous King
Atheist comment:
"The second that there is definitive proof that there is a god every single atheist will no longer be atheist. What you consider evidence shows how gullible you are. Example: I have an invisible fire breathing swan in my backyard who will vomit lava on you if you don't acknowledge it when you visit me and grovel before it. If you can see the foolishness in what I just described then you can understand how atheists feel about your invisible god."
McCann reply:
Your second point (or atheistic tactic) reveals a commonly held ignorance of the thing you're finding fault with (namely, the Bible). The fact that you take "the" ancient book (it is "the book") – there is nothing comparable among ancient documents. All other writings known to man amount to no more than cave doodlings when placed beside the Holy Book that is the Bible.
The Bible claims to be written by God. An all knowing God. An eternal God. A book written to His creatures created in His image. And as we read it, we find language that soars way above anything else men have put to page. As it was properly said of Jesus, no man ever spake like this man. So too, no book ever read like this book.
Consider the majestic nature of this passage:
Isaiah 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counseller hath taught him?
14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
Beautiful. Magnificent. A perspective of the world we dwell in from above. From the vantage point of an all-seeing, all-knowing God. The perspective of an infinite Being Who looks down upon the inhabitants of the world He made (made with total ease) and assesses all of its inhabitants in all of its nations as a drop in the bucket. Small dust of the balance. And the isles (continents) as a very little thing.
To us, from our extremely limited little finite perspective, the world is huge. And we are small within it. If all the nations are as a drop in a bucket – what does that say about each individual sinner? We are tiny little finite creatures at our best.
And yet, as in this group, throughout the whole world, these little tiny finite creatures shake their fists at this infinite God and claim to know a whole lot more than Him. Claim to be more moral than Him. Claim to be judge of Him all the while denying Him the right to be judge of them.
This is why your little scenario of establishing your own religion and declarations of miracles, or whatever, is pure nonsense that you yourself know is nonsense, and everyone else knows is nonsense. You are simply trying to justify your rebellion against Him. You have this reason today. Another reason tomorrow. Doesn't matter. Simply put: you are a rebel from the kingdom of the great God and King. And as a rebel, He has justly sentenced you to die. Along with all your merry band of fellow rebels that we call mankind.
In the few days remaining before the sentence is executed to completion. it concerns the God of the Bible – I would say not the slightest bit – whether the whole company of rebels living on earth at present continue shaking their puny fists (remember the drop of water in a bucket) at Him or occupy yourselves in some other way. It’s all a vain existence for the rebels as it will soon end.
As we all know, there is no “happily ever after” for this world and its people. Fairy tale endings, ironically, since you accuse the Bible of being a fairy tale book, are indeed only true for the Bible believers who are God's elect people. No fairy tale every ended so wonderfully as God has in store for His people. He will bring them all out of the nations turned into hell. And transform them into completely new spiritual creatures in both body and soul. And then be in their presence forevermore.
Happily ever after, you see – for the people of the Good and Righteous King and God of the Bible. But alas, as for the rebels, they will be destroyed along with the world they preferred and opted for – and their existence, as well as their world, will have proven to be temporal at the last. Everything they knew, experienced, dreamed, etc., etc., will be gone from them. Their thoughts will perish. They will go to non-existence and be no more.
Even the memory of them, the Bible says, will be forgotten:
Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
