On the so-called book of Enoch

Chris McCann
Jude 14

We do not read that Enoch wrote anything. This is what the Bible says about Enoch's prophesying:

Jude 14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

He prophesied. Prophesying may be done by speaking. And since there is no record of any kind in the Bible, or even in secular history, of writing existing 9,100 years ago (the time when Enoch lived), there is no book of Enoch written by him.

The God who knows all things moved Enoch to prophesy (to declare by speaking) during his lifetime about the coming of the Lord with His saints. Did Enoch say other things? Obviously. But none of the other things Enoch said were inspired by God because nothing else is recorded in the Bible except for what we find in Jude. That's it. Only the little portion of Enoch's speech given to Jude to pen in his one-chapter epistle is God breathed.

What about the so-called book of Enoch? Well, long ago some man saw Enoch's name in Scripture and wrote a book using it. And ever since you have deceived people making reference to it as though it is given by God. This is all a result of Satan the master deceiver attempting to raise the age-old question once more: hath God said? It is always his goal to cast doubt upon what actually is the Word of God and what is not.

But God's elect are fully aware that the 66 books of the Bible are the only Word of God. And nothing else.
