Pharaoh, Herod, and Nations of this World – Kill Children

Chris McCann
Psalm 23

Pharaoh commanded the Hebrew children to be killed-but Moses' mother hid him and thereby rescued him from death.

In an attempt to kill Christ, Herod ordered the children of Bethlehem (2 years and under) to be killed.

Both Pharaoh and Herod are used in the Bible as types and figures of Satan. It is Satan, therefore, who desires to kill the children of God (Israelite children in Egypt & Israelite children of Bethlehem). In the case of Herod, his killing of the children of Israel was a direct attempt to kill the Messiah – who he had heard was born king of the Jews from the wise men.

According to the Bible the unsaved people of the world are under the power and authority of Satan.

The Bible also teaches us that each and every elect child of God is likened by God to be part of the body of Christ. Spiritual Israel.

As the time of the end of the world approached, many secular nations and secular societies (all under the power and authority of Satan) began to develop laws which allowed the killing of babies in the womb. Estimates vary to the precise number of children killed (aborted) this way, but certainly the number is in the tens of millions.

Returning to the Biblical account of Pharaoh and of Herod, we wonder about their motivation for commanding the killing of the children? We understand that they were wicked men. But we also know that they did not order the killing of children without reason. Both men felt threatened by the idea of the birth of the Israelites. Pharaoh felt there were already too many of them. And that allowing more and more children to be born would eventually result in their overthrow of the Egyptians and their rule over them. Further following this line of thinking leads us to recognize that ultimately Pharaoh felt his rule as king was threatened. And that's interesting because Herod, who was puppet king at the time, placed over Israel by the Romans, was likewise fearful that a child born "King of the Jews" would usurp him and take his crown from him.

What about Satan, king over the unsaved of the world? Did he stir up the unsaved people of the world to the point where they developed this desperately wicked and mad idea that killing their own children while still in the womb was a good thing? No doubt that he was behind it. But why? Why kill unborn children? What purpose could there be in that?

Once we understand that all those whom God predestinated to become saved from before the foundation of the world form the body of Christ – and that though Jesus paid for their sins at the world's foundation, their salvation was not complete until the shed blood of Christ was applied to their hearts (souls) through hearing the Word of God at some point in their lives. So, reasoned the evil one, if we start killing the children of the world by the millions, by the tens of millions, it is very likely that we will also kill numbers of God's elect among them.

And, if we can manage to kill these children before they hear the Word of God and they become saved – then God's salvation program will have failed and the body of Christ could not perfectly form as one whole thereby rendering the Word of God to be of none effect. It would cause the Scriptures to be broken. God who had promised and guaranteed the salvation of all who were named in the Lamb's book of life would have lied. His Word would not be true and faithful. If God's Word had failed to accomplish the saving of all the elect – then Satan would have won. Satan would have defeated God and therefore remained in his role as king. The stakes were exceedingly high.

However, despite Satan's best attempts to kill off even one of God's elect people while they were at their most helpless in the womb – he never succeeded. Not even once.

Out of the great number of children killed in this way, it is certain that some were elected by God to salvation. Yet, in every single case the Lord orchestrated events and made sure that that little baby in the womb, newly conceived, or 3 weeks into development, or 3 months into development, or whatever the age was – the Lord made sure that He brought His Word, the Bible, into their lives in some way, shape, or form.

Perhaps the mother planned to go to the abortion center the next day. Unknown to her the 6 week old child in her womb was one of God's elect. As she sadly sat on the couch mindlessly watching TV a character in the movie or show she was watching quoted a Scripture verse.

Maybe it was a common scene in many films, at the gravesite of someone just killed and the actor/pastor is heard reading aloud Psalm 23. The Lord is my Shepherd...

The film then cuts away to the next scene and doesn't mention anything further of the Bible. Yet, that word spoken was from the Bible. And faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. God blessed the Word to the forming child in the woman's womb. Thereby saving the child. The next day the mother carried out her intentions and the child died – and upon its death it went to be with the Lord. Satan was foiled once more.

Oh, but now we have come to a time wherein the law permitting the killing of children in a major world country has been overturned.

Why now, though? Debate has raged for quite a long time. Has Satan simply given up the notion of destroying God's elect while in the womb? Unlikely, since that does appear to be the best tactic to disappoint God's salvation program.

This topic came up a few years ago now, and back then I mentioned that I would not be surprised to see the law allowing abortion to be overturned. My reason for thinking this had to do with God completing His salvation program and saving all whose names were written in the Lamb's book of life. God accomplished this by the date of May 21, 2011. I have long understood that this whole idea of killing children, on the spiritual level, had to do with the attempt to slay the elect children of God as they entered into the world – and so I realized that since God had already saved everyone He intended to save, that that ulterior purpose of Satan was no longer operational. That is, after Christ was born, Herod did not continually seek to kill the children of Bethlehem. He only sought to kill them in order to kill Christ. Once born, there was no longer any reason to kill the children of Bethlehem.

Therefore, it is not surprising at all, given that we are living at a time when all those to be saved have been saved – that laws concerning the killing of children are repealed.
