The Comforter is Not Operating in the World
Throughout the whole world there is trouble and turmoil. This is to be expected in the Day of Judgment. God tells us in several Scriptures that man will rise up against his fellow man as great division occurs amongst the unsaved people in all nations. Much of the trouble, if not all of it, is between the oppressed and the oppressors.
Ecclesiastes 4:1 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.
Sorrowfully, no one wins. For there is no comforter with either of them.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
God's elect people, alive and remaining here and there, scattered among the nations of the earth, also go through the trouble and the turmoil of Judgment Day – yet they will faithfully endure until its end. They alone of all the world's people have the comforting presence of the Spirit of God within them to be their guide (even unto death) as they traverse their way through the hell the world has been turned into:
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless:
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:
Psalm 48:14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
