The Spiritual Meaning of a Tittle is Becoming Clearer
Another person commented on a "Tittle":
"A horn seems to be fitting for the meaning for tittle because when you look at a horn, the very tip of the horn is very tiny, and as you get near the base it grows bigger in size.
Kind of like an icicle, its thick at the base, but it gets thinner until you get to the tip of it."
EBF response:
I think the spiritual meaning is becoming clearer for the tittle (horn) – a couple of the verses use it in a way that we can tie it to the Hebrew word for horn and we find it identifies with salvation (horn of salvation) as well as the horn that a prophet like Samuel would take and fill with oil to anoint the king:
1 Samuel 16:1 And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth-lehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
The oil represents the Holy Spirit. The horn poured out the oil just as the Word of God poured out the Holy Spirit to save God's elect (Romans 10:17, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God).
When you look up the Greek word (#2762) translated as tittle – you can see its similarity to the word translated as horn (#2768), but there is also a series of words that have the same first 4 letters (kera) that have the idea of a shell or an empty thing that can be filled. For instance, #2765 is "pitcher". #2769 is "husk". Even numbers #2763 & #2764 are translated "potter" and a pottery vessel often has an empty interior.
And of course, with a "horn" the inner part must be empty in order for it to be filled with the oil.
Significantly, in Matthew 5's passage Christ speaks of all that is written being "fulfilled".
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
The fulfillment of the law ties in very well with the oil filling the horn. As all that is written had much to do with God's end time plan to save a great multitude as well as carry out His judgment on the church and world. And the Scriptures (law) were energized by the Holy Spirit (the oil) who was poured out the second time beginning in the Jubilee year of 1994. Therefore the tittle (horn) of the Word of God was and is being fulfilled.
