Two Observations Regarding "The Day of Salvation" & "The Day of Judgment"
2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
1. Some disbelieve we are in the "Day of Judgment" because the time period the Bible has revealed is a prolonged period of time lasting several years. And yet, these same people believe that the day of salvation is ongoing. The "day" of salvation they believe in is a prolonged time period lasting many, many years (centuries) -- they seem not to notice the obvious contradiction in this.
2. Some disbelieve it is Judgment Day because the judgment is of a spiritual nature. But these same people believe in the spiritual nature of the day of salvation. If you ask them did God do a work of salvation in them and others, they would say, Absolutely! Is there any physical difference in a person once God saved them? No. They are physically unchanged. Where did they become saved then? In their soul (spirit) existence. Therefore, salvation is a spiritual action accomplished by God. And spiritual things are invisible things.
So some people are very, very confident it is not Judgment Day because it’s longer than a literal day; and because they are told the judgment is spiritual in nature.
Then, these same people who refuse to believe those things about Judgment Day, do believe those exact things about the day of salvation (prolonged time period and of a spiritual nature).
Summary: it is not the fact that Judgment Day is a prolonged period of time, nor is it the fact that Judgment Day is of a spiritual nature, that prevents these people from believing the Bible concerning these things.
What is it then? Why do they not believe the Bible on this crucial issue? Perhaps it is because it was not given them to believe:
Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
2 Thessalonians 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
2 Chronicles 20:20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
