Faith Without Works is Dead! Which is Why Christ's Works Were Finished from the Foundation of the World!

A work in the Bible is an act of obedience to the commandment of God. Works require action. You cannot do a work in principle. Which is why the Word of God says this:

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

And,

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Therefore, when we read this verse:

Hebrews 4:3 ... the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

We know that this cannot possibly be referring to something done in principle.

And moreover, we know that God could not have counted Christ's shed blood to Old Testament saints based on the guarantee of it happening in the future. That is, based on a "future work" performed at the cross. This is NOT possible.

Why isn't it possible? Because that would mean faith was accepted by God without the accompanying work of Christ in the atonement.

No way! God is under His own law. And the law of God says that faith without works is dead.

Therefore, Christ performed the work of paying for the sins of His people at the foundation of the world. Exactly as Hebrews 4:3 tells us. It was at that point in eternity past that the "works were finished from the foundation of the world". Action completed. Now faith has its accompanying works of Christ's payment for sins of His elect people. And therefore, the faith of Abel, the faith of Enoch, the faith of Noah, etc., etc., are acceptable to God due to Christ's finished work performed on their behalf. The work of shedding His blood to pay for all their sins was done.
