The Sunday Sabbath is a Delight for God's Elect

By Chris McCann
November 11, 2018

The Sunday Sabbath day is NOT a day for work. And it is NOT a day for relaxing and enjoying ourselves at a game (or watching a game) and doing our own pleasure. The Sunday Sabbath day is a day the Lord has wonderfully set aside for His people to engage in spiritual activities. Or spiritual good works of studying the Scriptures, sharing Bible truth, singing hymns, and of prayer. To the degree we obey God in this, is the degree we will delight in it and be blessed by it:

Isaiah 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
