Justified by--Whose Works?

By Chris McCann
January 7, 2017

James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

So you think it was Abraham's own faith that justified him?

What about these statements:

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace ....

Justified by His (Christ's) grace!

And,

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood,

Justified by His (Christ's) blood!

Would you dare try to take some of God's glory away by saying it was somehow your grace that justified you?

Or, would you dare try to take some of God's glory away by saying it was somehow your blood that justified you?

Then why do you dare try to take away God's glory by saying it was somehow man's work of obedience (Abraham or anyone else) that justified him?

Remember,

Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

One justified is said to be just. We could read this, the justified shall live by HIS FAITH. And that would match the Bible's language that we're justified by His grace (not ours) and His blood (not ours).
