The Sequence of Events Concerning Christ’s Body

By Chris McCann
May 3, 2017

First, Jesus is equipped with a human body at the foundation of the world. He bears sin and dies in this human body.

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,

Revelation 13:8b ... the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Next, He rises from the dead at the world's foundation and is equipped with a new resurrected glorious spiritual body as He is declared to be the Son of God.

Romans 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ ...

4 And declared to be the Son of God ... by the resurrection from the dead:

The man Adam is created after the image and likeness of God. That is, Adam was made after the image and likeness of the human body that Jesus took on at the world's foundation.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;

Jesus later entered into the world to demonstrate His earlier death/resurrection at the world's foundation and is conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary in 7 BC.

1 Timothy 3:16b ... God was manifest in the flesh,

Jesus temporarily puts off the body of flesh of His demonstration and for a moment on the mount of transfiguration shows His glorified body that He received when He rose from the dead at the world's foundation.

Matthew 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Luke 9:29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:

31 Who appeared in glory,...

Following this, Jesus goes to the cross and dies. He resurrects in a body of flesh and bones in order to continue to make things manifest. In this case He is making His resurrection manifest by showing Himself still in a body of flesh and bones. Obviously, He must have possessed another glorified body which He was not revealing during the 40 days of showing Himself to prove the resurrection.

Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

At the end of showing Himself for 40 days Jesus re-enters into heaven in His glorified spiritual body which He received at the foundation of the world (He had to have a different body than the one He was displaying for the 40 days since flesh and blood cannot enter into the kingdom of God).

1 Corinthians 15: 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;

On the last day all the elect children of God will receive their new resurrected glorified bodies patterned after Christ's own resurrected glorified body (received from His rising from the dead at the foundation of the world).

Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
